RUIN SLOUP

RUIN SLOUP
What you're going to do
Ruïne Sloup is an outing you won't forget. You walk to a rock where there used to be a castle, and the special thing is: parts are carved into the rock itself. That gives you an adventurous feeling, without immediately having to be a tough hike.
From Camping de Regenboog, you can drive there in about 40 minutes. You can keep the visit to the ruin very relaxed, or make a full day out of it. Indeed, nearby you will also find caves (such as Samuel's Cave and the Gypsy caves), and a lake with a beach. Ideal if you want to combine walking with a break for the kids (or just sit with a view).
About Ruïne Sloup
What makes Ruïne Sloup so special is the history that you literally see: a castle that once lay along a trade route, was later used as a monastery, and is now a place where you walk around between cliffs, stairs and vistas.
It's a nice day trip from the campsite because it's varied. You have nature, a bit of culture and plenty of space to organize your day. And because it's not an extremely long drive, you'll be back at the campsite in no time for a relaxing evening.
