Practical information & tips

WELL PREPARED FOR VACATION

Going on vacation well prepared gives you peace of mind. Here we share practical information that is nice to know before and during your stay at Camping de Regenboog. This way, you know what to expect and you can enjoy your time with us carefree.

Swimming and water at the campsite

Right next to the campsite is a lake where some visitors like to swim or sail and others prefer to take a nice, peaceful walk. Water quality can always change. The management of the lake does not lie with the campsite, so we have no influence on this.

For younger children, there are several children's pools spread across the campsite. In addition, there are several swimming pools and recreational lakes in the area, about 10 to 20 kilometers away. There are nice, well-maintained swimming locations, especially towards Germany.

Fishing at the campsite

It is not allowed to fish in the lake next to the campsite. There are currently no fishing locations in the immediate vicinity where tourists can easily obtain a permit. We think it is important to clearly state this in advance so that you are not in for any surprises.

Climate and clothing advice

In summer, the weather in the Czech Republic is usually warmer and drier than in the Netherlands. During the day, you can often enjoy pleasant temperatures, while it cools down nicely in the evening. That makes for nice nights, especially in nature.

We recommend bringing a thick vest or sweater and possibly an extra blanket for cooler evenings. So you're always comfortable, no matter the time of day.

By car to the Czech Republic

Are you going on vacation by car? Then it is good to take into account some traffic rules that are different in the Czech Republic than in the Netherlands:

  • During the day, city lights are mandatory
  • There is a strict 0% alcohol policy behind the wheel
  • A vignette is required on motorways
    • This is not necessary in the vicinity of the campsite
    • If you are heading to Prague, a vignette or avoiding toll roads is recommended
  • Parking is only allowed in the direction of travel

These rules are strictly controlled, so it is nice to be aware of them in advance.

Biking in the Czech Republic

There are also clear traffic rules for cyclists in the Czech Republic:

  • Cyclists ride one after the other, not side by side
  • The 0% alcohol policy also applies to cyclists
  • Children under 18 are required to wear a bicycle helmet

The Czech Republic has thousands of kilometers of marked cycling routes. Many routes are low-traffic or specially designed for cyclists. Keep in mind that some routes run on unpaved paths, forest roads or cart tracks. This is often not a problem in dry weather, but in case of rain, you may have to walk a bit or choose an alternative route. This is part of cycling in a natural environment, but it is nice to take this into account beforehand.
